Project Abstract: The book featured art/design/writing pieces from graduating seniors, so we decided that it would be best to keep the book simple yet beautiful to showcase the work. Our book, in the end, would serve two audiences: parents of potential students and the high school students themselves.

  • Paper: 100% PCW New Leaf Imagination 80# text/cover which is FSC and green-e certified, PCF, and manufactured through wind energy. Inside is 71# text New Leaf Sakura, Silk Coated, 82 Bright, 100% De-inked Recycled, 50% Post-Consumer Waste, Processed Chlorine Free, Green-e¨ certified, Ancient Forest Friendly.

  • Printing: University of Illinois Printing Services which uses soy-based inks, and is three blocks from the School of Art + Design.

  • More:By choosing a local printer, we were able to minimize energy costs related to travel and mailing.
  • We shared versions via PDF and during our final proofing stages. We also used the re-nourish Project Calculator to limit our printing waste by shortening the booklet by .25". This small change saved us 1,000 press sheets and $3,000.
